Leuca is a very popular seaside area, characterized by a fabulous promenade and Art Nouveau villas and the caves of Santa Maria di Leuca. The marina of Leuca is located between Punta Ristola to the west and Punta Mèliso to the east; the point where the line of separation is clearly visible, even at a chromatic level, and the border between the Adriatic Sea and the Ionian Sea.
Leuca, marina of Castrignano del Capo, is home to a well-equipped marina, the largest and most welcoming in Salento; and is known and sought after for its coast paved with silvery cliffs and carved by caves and picturesque coves, ideal refuges for boat lovers.
The caves of Leuca
The caves are numerous, both terrestrial and marine. Some of these were used by man in prehistoric times; an example is the porcinara cave, in remote times was a pagan temple. Fragments of bones, coins, ashes and inscriptions on the walls dating from around the 5th century BC were also found here.
Precious and fascinating, the Caves of Santa Maria di Leuca attract every year thousands of tourists who flock to admire the beauty and wonders of this enchanting territory.
